Job Description
Enhanced Custody is an alternative to prime brokerage and is the only platform that allows clients to borrow stock and finance from a segregated custody account. State Street's Enhanced Custody solution can reduce counterparty risk, offer additional transparency and provide more control over assets. Clients can also engage in self-borrowing and self-financing from their own long positions from a custody accounts. This approach provides a more efficient and cost-effective way to manage long/short portfolios.
We are looking for an individual who has previously worked in a Collateral/Operations role. The candidate will have regular interaction with internal and external customers, the front office, and senior management. A successful candidate should have a working knowledge of securities lending, borrowing, custody, trade processing, equity execution, collateral management, and middle office servicing.
This role will:
The Enhanced Custody Operations desk consists of 6 staff managing a loan and borrow book over 21 European and Far Eastern Markets. A Successful candidate's duties will include:
- Analyzing, researching and interpreting collateral requirements from lender and borrower terms and conditions according to established policies and procedures
- Managing internal and external client collateral supply demands across multiple financing options
- Providing technical, market and industry expertise related to Collateral Management to identify and manage risk
- Consulting with global trading desks to communicate risk and exposure to Enhanced Custody and its clients
- Instructing client collateral requirements and coordinating external movements
- Developing new processes and procedures for new functions and products or as the lending/trading environment changes
- Providing oversight and control functionality over the whole collateral process
- Researching and resolving collateral short falls and escalating to the appropriate management teams
- Supporting and maintaining relationships with brokerage intermediaries and Enhanced Custody client base
- Managing performance and development of staff members; provides staff with cross-training opportunity
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Excellent knowledge of global collateral management is a requirement
- Must have Prime Brokerage experience from a Collateral Management point of view
- Must have Team leading experience – ideally around 2+ people
- Must have excellent client stakeholder management skills
- Knowledge of SunGard Global One experience preferable, but not required
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and unit workflow in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to identify areas of exposure, take necessary steps to protect Enhanced Custody, its clients and the corporation
- Strong relationship management, decision-making, problem solving, leadership, risk management, communication and project management skills
- Customer focus
- Successful candidate should be enthusiastic, keen to learn and be part of a growing team
- Good communication, organization, problem solving, analytical and prioritization skills
- Microsoft proficient
