Prime Brokerage Operations Manager recruitment
The role will require good relationship skills for interaction with the business, core processing teams and also with clients. It will enable the candidate to gain an all-round and strategic view of operations and they will also be expected to contribute to continuous improvement of processes and technology.
The Prime Brokerage business is transitioning towards a multi product offering, while continuing to support our current client base. To facilitate this, the team requires an individual with managerial ability and personable attributes to co-ordinate, facilitate and lead the middle office team within both a tactical and strategic capacity.
This is a unique supervisory role since it spans across all areas of the bank including change management, sales, IT support groups, systems developers, settlements, collateral management, 3rd party electronic platform vendors, confirmations, credit risk and finance. The role requires the candidate to demonstrate effective communication and collaborate with different client audiences and other areas of operations to achieve optimal operational capacity. As well as the specific activities, a positive contribution to the ongoing development and motivation of the Prime Services business values and team itself will be vital.
Responsibilities:
The candidate will be required to perform and facilitate the following:
• Liaise with Global PB IRD and FX managers in all locations to ensure consistent processes and control are maintained across all regions on a daily basis
• Instigate frequent dialogue between the IRD and FX MO team, Change Management and IT Developers to identify control gaps and prioritize system upgrade requirements
• Interaction with the Prime Brokerage Sales Desk to advise on present and future operational capacity for current and targeted clients
• Conducting gap analysis and impact analysis to mitigate financial and reputational loss
• Act as Operational Relationship Manager for top-tier clients in the US
• Co-ordinate operational on-boarding of new clients
• Assist Change Management with project initiation and upgrade documentation for new regulation and process requirements
• Business development for all FX, CDS IRD client clearing initiatives
The candidate with be required to co-ordinate and manage the PB IRD MO team in the following activities:
• Trade booking of all FX, IRD CDS products
• High level Client Relationship Management
• Trade file reconciliation portfolio management
• Cash management and collateral movements
• Settlement and rate issue resolution
• Query resolution via navigation of Operational sectors
• Client billing, client reporting and internal MIS metrics
• External confirmation platforms and interfaces
• Valuation calculation and risk reporting
• Processing client’s post –trade activity – novations, partials, tear-ups, rollercoasters
• Booking and interface systems development and testing
Minimum Requirements:
• Coordinate, motivate and lead a team effectively
• Have a comprehensive understanding of current market processes and practices across all FX, vanilla IRD products including swaps, basis swaps, FRA and swoptions, and CDS.
• Strong understanding of Prime Brokerage Operations processing globally
• Strong understanding of Operational risks and controls
• Documentation of plans, models, concepts and processes
• Be able to solve complex problems across a broad range of disciplines (functional as well as project-orientated)
• Identify risks, assess and quantify their impact, and develop actions or plans that mitigate them.
• Utilize specific business or management knowledge that can be clearly brought to bear in improving what and how Production and Change can be improved
• Constructively challenge processes, approaches and attitudes where this will result in improvement or value to Operations Production, or will bring ideas for improvements in terms of both resource and project management
