Principal
Greencoat Capital (“GC”) is an investment firm in the cleantech and renewable sector. Our team is based in London, Dublin, and Munich, and we have a global mandate with a European focus. GC is the exclusive investment adviser to ESB Novusmodus LP, a €200m cleantech fund. In addition GC recently launched a publicly traded £260m UK wind infrastructure fund which it now manages.
This search is for a position in the Cleantech VC/PE team.
Role Description
- Identify and execute together with a Partner attractive, high potential investment targets on a pan European basis
- Co-lead coordinate the investment process in all aspects for deals within your core competence domains, support deal teams for other domains
- Develop a good overview of trends in the sector, identify new, upcoming sub-segments or business models
- Identify key intermediaries and funds and build strong relationships with this target group
- Get access to and create initial interest from promising management teams and convince them to work with GC
- Attend board meetings/calls support the Partners in managing companies in our portfolio
- Work with portfolio companies on key strategic issues and KPI reporting, preparing internal portfolio review papers and presenting to the investment committee
- Develop good working relationships with portfolio company management
- Attend events and represent GC, also as panellist or speaker
Qualifications / Background
- Degree from top tier university
- At least 7 years of professional business experience, of which at least 3 years experience in small to mid-size PE fund or capital growth fund
- Qualified Accountant, MBA or equivalent a plus
- Experience in dealing with the energy sector and/or renewables/cleantech preferred
- Experience in M+A or investment businessclose involvement in or leading deals
- Understanding of corporate governance and typical VC/PE deal structures and terms
- Experience in working in a distributed, international organization is a plus
Skills
- Fluent in English. Other European language(s) a plus
- Strong business sense, ability to understand complexity and identify weaknesses based on previous business experience
- Excel familiarity, modelling skills and affinity with numbers
- Demonstrated affinity to engineering, innovation and business with strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Thorough understanding of accounting and financial modelling
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, proficient in Powerpoint Word
