Principal Operations Engineer

Job Description:

RVS is seeking a talented and dynamic individual with a working knowledge of the technologies associated with producing printed wiring boards, flexible circuits and circuit card assemblies to be the Supplier Quality Liaison between key suppliers and various functions within the Raytheon organization. This individual will be responsible for facilitating supplier related issues to closure, advising electronic engineers in designing printed wiring boards and electronic assemblies and will review designs and make recommendations to improve produceability. This individual will be responsible for recognizing potential process and product improvements and initiating 6 Sigma projects with key suppliers. Additional responsibilities will include participation in product development, product qualification, process qualification, capability analysis and supplier assessments.

 

Candidate must either work from the Goleta Raytheon facility and travel to southern California at least 3 days a week or reside in Orange County or southern Los Angeles County and have a home office for telecommuting.

 

Required Skills

  • Minimum 8 years engineering experience with electro/mechanical components and/or systems, with emphasis on electronic circuit card and flex cable assemblies.

  • Working knowledge of the technologies associated with producing printed wiring boards, flex circuits and circuit card assemblies.

  • Program or Project management skills

  • Ability to write clear presentations and technical reports (including familiarity with MS Word and PowerPoint), and strong oral communication skills.

  • Ability to manage and develop balanced supplier relationships built on partnerships and required performance

  • Familiarity with quality systems and industry standards associated with printed wiring boards and flex circuits (AS9100, ISO, IPC Standards).

  • Ability to facilitate successful supplier failure analyses and root cause analysis using 6 sigma techniques and assuring effective corrective actions.

  • Ability to effectively juggle multiple tasks and priorities with minimal oversight.

     

    Desired Skills:

  • Infrared industry experience.

  • Hands on use of statistical process controls for process monitoring, qualification and/or design feedback.

  • Experience with managing large suppliers and/or Major Subcontracts ($50M Revenue) a plus.

  • Design to Cost, DFMA, SPC knowledge

  • Formal 6 Sigma training, certification and/or equivalent a plus.

  • Raytheon RESA experience

     

    Required Education (including Major):

    Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering, Mathematics or Science
