Job Description
Calypso Technology is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to work within the Engineering Division specifically to manage the core web team which is charged with the responsibility to design and development of the architecture, user experience and technology for strategic internet based offerings. The ideal candidate is someone who has a command of the technologies in the space, strong User interface design background and demonstrated the abilty to drive multi year initiatives. The successful candidate will be able to define strategies and drive decisions in emerging technologies across a global organization. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future direction of the Calypso Web technology.
This role based in San Francisco but will require international travel to evangelize the architecture for internet development in the San Francisco, NY, London and Paris development centers.
Responsibilities:
- Development of core technologies to enable delivery of internet based applications across functional areas.
- Research and development focusing on web and J2EE technologies for internet based projects.
- A key responsibility will be working directly with Software engineers on existing and new Web API and on Web Architecture choices;
- Presenting and demonstrating solutions to different Engineering groups;
- Carrying out Internal documentation and training.
Skills Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience on Web Interface Technology (GWT, JSF, Ajax, PHP, JavaScript);
- 8+ years of experience in commercial languages/library/framework including Java/J2EE, .Net, Swing, JDBC, RMI, Hibernate, Spring, XML, HTML (exceptional candidates with less experience will be considered);
- Strong experience with J2EE and web technologies (JSF,GWT, Tomcat, Apache, JBOSS…);
- Excellent object-oriented analysis, design development skills;
- Track record for managing complex technology projects across teams and locations.
- Demonstrate strong skills in User Experience and design
- Must be able to work independently;
- Must be a fast learner, self-motivated, team player;
- Strong problem solving skills;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential in English.
- Language skills in French is a strong plus
