Private Equity Analyst recruitment

One of Black River’s private equity funds, with c. $500 million of assets under management, is seeking an Analyst/Associate who will be based in Minneapolis and support the Portfolio Manager in all aspects of the private equity investment process (prior to and following an investment), primarily with regard to opportunities in Latin America.
Note that we will NOT provide relocation assistance.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct sector/country research, including trends, drivers, and risks
- Evaluate investment candidates, comparable companies and competitors
- Develop detailed financial/operating models, including company valuations with scenario/sensitivity analyses (considering discounted cash flows, investment returns, sum-of-the-parts, and values of comparable companies and precedent transactions)
- Draft detailed investment memoranda and presentations
- Assist in the coordination of due diligence processes
- Interact with prospective and potential portfolio company management and externalities (e.g. co-investors, lenders, investment banks, law firms, consulting firms, and industry experts)
- Analyze the ongoing performance of portfolio investments
- Assist in all aspects of the eventual divestiture of portfolio investments
Requirements
- Fluency (written and verbal) in English and Spanish
- 4-year university degree, preferably in accounting/finance/economics (unless candidate also possesses a graduate degree in one of these areas)
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in private equity, venture capital, investment banking, management consulting, or leveraged lending
- Significant experience with financial modeling, including company valuations
- Strong analytical, verbal and written skills
- Interest/willingness to travel and work across time zones
- Driven, diligent, self-motivated, team-oriented, organized individual capable of working independently, with a history of exceeding goals
