Role Context

SL Capital is part of the Standard Life plc group of companies, which is one of the UK’s largest financial services providers and is listed on the London Stock Exchange. SL Capital has a long history of making and managing commitments to private equity funds. Since 1998 the Manager has raised in excess of €6.4 billion for private equity investments for 15 different fund of funds vehicles. The group’s global investment team comprises 19 investment professionals who have over 200 years of private equity experience. SL Capital is 60% owned by Standard Life Investments and 40% by the senior executives of SL Capital.  Clients range from pension funds, banks and insurance companies from the UK, US and Europe, to family offices and high net worth individuals worldwide.

Private equity is a rapidly developing industry, and SL Capital is well positioned to capitalise on our expertise and reputation in this market. We are currently recruiting for private equity investment analysts to join our team, based in Edinburgh.

The roles we are recruiting for offer an excellent opportunity for the successful candidates to further develop their knowledge of private equity and pursue careers in the industry. The group primarily has a European focus but with an emerging US capability, investing mainly in management buy-outs through private equity funds, secondaries and direct investments. The investment team has extensive direct deal experience that not only allows them to successfully follow a co-investment strategy, but also gives greater insight into the strategies, processes and disciplines of the funds invested in.

The roles demand highly effective communication skills, and include opportunities to travel. Language skills would therefore be an advantage. The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate strong analytical and team working capabilities, commercial acumen, and be driven to exceed clients’ expectations at all times.

Core Skills

• Highly analytical with experience of conducting financial analysis.

• Self motivated with demonstrated ability to work in a team.

• Strong communication skills (oral and written).

• European language skills advantageous.

Core Knowledge/Experience

• A degree in a numerate subject such as economics, accounting, engineering or other such discipline

• Background in relevant area such as, Private equity, Investment banking, Accounting or consultancy would be advantageous, but not necessary
