Huntsman currently has an immediate opening for a dynamic individual with proven capability as a PROCESS CONTROL TECHNICIAN in CONROE, TEXAS.
Essential responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:
- Maintain DCS Alarm Database.
- Configuration of basic loops, development of graphics and testing of loops. Work with the instrument technicians in testing of such loops.
- Generation of operational/maintenance procedures as required for new DCS/PLC and others.
- Evaluate existing loops/processes and assist DCS Control Engineers to optimize those processes/loops.
- Maintain DCS/PLC hardware, software, and system documentation.
- Work with system vendors to implement software upgrades and/or repair component failures.
- Send defective DCS/PLC equipment to manufacturer or specialized repair shop for repair.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks, such as checking, cleaning, or repairing equipment, to detect and prevent.
- Coordinate efforts with other workers involved in installing or maintaining equipment or components. Inspect newly installed DCS/PLC equipment for accurate assembly and installation.
- Participate in alarm rationalization meetings.
- Implement alarm rationalization changes for existing processes and new MOC changes.
- Maintain alarm logging system, reports, and KPI's.
- Participate in 5-year revalidation PHA/LOPA studies as required.
- Support effort to gather and inerpret ESD's and other critical DCS/PLC functions.
- Support changes from MOC/PHA/LOPA process: perform proof tests, maintain proof test documentation, collect reliability test date for critical equipment, and work with I/E Engineers to develop PM's.
- Work with I/E field maintenance to perform software checkouts on MOC changes.
- Manage and complete assigned action items.
- Attend offsite Foxboro I/A and other classes as requested.
General Responsibilities:
- Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
- Assists other employees in accomplishment of Huntsman company goals.
- Participates in and completes company-required training programs.
- Participates in Environmental, Health and Safety initiatives as set forth by the company.
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
- Associates Degree in Process Control Technician from an accredited college or university with 5+ years of experience required.
- 5+ years of process instrumentation experience preferred.
Special Qualifications (Training, Technical skills, etc.):
- Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs.
- Must be analytical and be willing to exert whatever effort is required to accomplish objectives.
- Must be thorough, goal oriented, and quickly adaptable to new situations.
- Significant experience in working with and resolving PC hardware and operating system and other software issues.
- PLC programming experience is a plus.
- Foxboro I/A DCS training and experience is a plus.
- Triconex or Trident SIS training and experience is a plus.
- Interpret instrumentation schematics and loop diagrams (ILD PID) and be able to locate relevant technical information from data sheets and vendor manuals.
- Multi-tasking: Flexibility to handle more than one important task or assignment simultaneously.
