Product Control Manager

Global Commodities Trading Company, with an Upstream business, now looking for a Product Control Manager to lead the Product Control desk. This role is a combination of Product Control and Business MI Reporting.

The Product Control team is part of the Financial Control Analysis organisation and performs a key role in managing the financial risks of the business. The Product Control team work closely with the trading team to ensure that the risks associated with trading and hedging activities are adequately managed. The trading team and product control team are co-located in offices in Canary Wharf.

Product Control Analysts support the trading team by providing insightful management information for decision making. Including the analysis of trading positions, review of trading performance and acting as a key person in the relationship between trading and the wider business. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to be involved in both day-to-day product control management activities and project work around new trading opportunities.

Your team of Product Controllers are responsible for identifying and managing risks in a dynamic environment. Ensuring that the risks are mitigated and that relevant controls are in place for the current trading environment. This includes ensuring that the trading activities are in line with the Delegation of Authority and that daily exposure and trading profit loss are reported back to the business.

You will manage a team 3 to 4 Product Control Analysts, your specific responsibilities will include:
- Providing strategic leadership and execution of the Product Control strategic and tactical agendas;
- Focus on ensuring that the Product Control function operates in accordance with established governance and operating processes;
- Drive the Product Control function forward in providing strategic leadership and building differentiated capability in assessing the quality of returns being made across the trading portfolio;
- Provide strategic insight to all business growth and origination activity.
- Developing strategic relationships with key local stakeholders in the Front Office, with Risk, Compliance and other Finance Functions;
- Cash Flow forecasting;
- MI Reporting and analysis.

Requirements:
- Minimum 4 years physical commodities product control experience from an Investment Bank or Commodities Trading House;
- Ideally a minimum 12 months staff supervision / management experience;
- You will be an excellent team player, able to build working relationships across borders together with strong analytical capabilities highly numerate;
- Any accountancy qualification or experience in a petrochemicals or refinery environment is a definite advantage but not essential;
- IT skills, in particular Excel, Business Objects; SAP would be an advantage.
