Background:
The payment system is increasingly using chip technology as the platform solution for a range of payment applications. EMV based debit and credit cards are the core chip proposition, but PayPass, mobile payment and remote payment authentication are also based on chip technology.
Chip technology is a fast moving area and our customers are becoming ever more demanding and creative in terms of the chip based products and solutions they expect from MasterCard. From a MasterCard point of view this increases our need to maintain a pool of industry leading experts that can deliver technology specifications that underpin what our customers are expecting from us.
Role and Responsibilities:
Overarching role of the Platform Specifications team:
· Lead the development of critical product assets in direct support of the Product development strategy
· Create and influence technology standards
· Lead the development of the application platform roadmap
· Increase awareness and understanding of our chip specifications and provide expertise to critical customer projects
The Product Leader – Authentication and Card Platform Specifications is able to exercise the following responsibilities for the M/Chip Advance card platform and the Remote Authentication Solution for Chip.
· Develop Product requirements specifications, implementation guides, training material for customers
· Develop application and platform specifications, configuration guides, training material for vendors
· Provide cross functional technical consultancy for new products definition/projects.
· Deliver expert support to MasterCard industry partners and critical customer projects.
· Act as ‘second line’ expert support to chip help desk and PayPass help desk.
Key accountabilities of the role:
Lead the development of critical product assets in direct support of the Product development strategy
· Develop and maintain Functional and Application Specifications such as M/Chip card application specifications, MasterCard Authentication Solution for Chip specification.
Lead the development of the application platform roadmap
· Evaluate the product requirements from the different product lines and evaluate their impacts on existing platforms.
· Research technology solutions for developing new products.
· Act as lead tracker for ways to integrate new technologies (e.g. biometrics, contactless, mobile, new cryptographic algorithms …) into the payment environment.
Increase awareness and understanding of our chip specifications and provide expertise to critical customer projects
· Develop presentations and training materials for internal and external consumption to ensure that our product management lines, other internal stakeholders as well as vendors and customers are well aware of the possibilities and limitations of our technical solutions.
· Provide technical expertise to critical vendors to optimize time to market for their implementation.
· Provide technical expertise to critical customer projects.
Profile and key requirements
· Level: more than 3 years in similar position
· Education: university degree, engineering in electronics, telecommunications, computer science or mathematics
· Experience: Experience in Chip technology and understanding of Electronic Payments Business is an asset.
· Supervision: medium
· Good interpersonal skills and persuasion skills. Ability to work in a matrix organization.
· Strong writing -and presentation skills in English
· Ability to manage the transition from functional to technical requirements.
· Strong analytic skills to unravel complex matters and do impact analysis of different options.

· Ability to master complex matters up to the very detail
