Product Manager
Job Description:
The Product Manager will lead development and management of Wireless Generation products for the use of K-12 literacy assessment and instruction. In this role, the Product Manager will have responsibility for managing the lifecycle of a product and will provide leadership of the product, providing developing the vision and setting the long-term direction of the product. In this role, the Product Manager will direct the efforts of personnel from various departments at Wireless Generation to develop and maintain innovative and profitable products in the K-12 instruction and assessment space.
Responsibilities of Product Manager - Literacy:
Manages products from concept to retirement, including strategy, planning, product design, development, launch, marketing, production, enhancements, and retirement.
- Thought Leadership - Acts as a Wireless Generation subject matter expert in relevant product domains.
- Strategy - Develops product or product line strategy based on a deep understanding of market and competitive landscape.
- Planning - Maintain the product roadmap and priorities for future development based on market opportunities and customers needs, with an emphasis on creating sustainable competitive advantage.
- Sales - Works with sales and marketing to develop appropriate sales positioning and approach; supports sales efforts on major accounts.
- Marketing - Work with marketing partners to develop product positioning and marketing plans.
- Product design and Development - Sets the vision for the product and managements a cross-functional product team to ensure high quality deliverables that achieve that vision.
- Product Service Delivery - Sets direction and acts as leadership of a cross-functional product team in of the product and/or service delivery.
- Commitment to Quality - Develops Wireless Generation position on factors critical to the successful adoption and use of instructional and assessment products; works with internal and external constituents to ensure educational validity of our product and services.
- Financial - Responsible for product line profit and loss.
Requirements of Product Manager - Literacy:
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree (degree in education preferred), at least 5-10 years of relevant experience, and a solid understanding of K-12 literacy instruction.
- Demonstrated success in a product development and/or product management role.
Ability to communicate with a variety of constituencies, possess strong executive level communications, and the ability to speak in public and create and deliver presentations. - Proven experience leading in a matrix organization with the ability to develop strategic plans and provide supporting evidence for those plans.
- Demonstrated interest in education and product development (an interest in technology and online marketing – how companies market themselves online – is preferred).
- Ability to communicate with a variety of constituencies, to speak in public and create and deliver presentations, and to think and act strategically.
- Experience in the management, implementation, or use of educational products for literacy instruction preferred.
- Willingness to travel 1 – 2 times per month.
- Experience marketing K-12 instruction or assessment products preferred.
