Purpose of the Job:
EMD Millipore BioPharma Services is a world-class specialty contract research organization that delivers critical bioanalytical testing services for biopharmaceutical customers. Product Managers champion the processes involved in bringing our services to our customers and are highly empowered drivers viewed as general managers of their product line. Product Managers at Merck Millipore work directly with customers and industry thought leaders to assess the process and technology needs of the marketplace and the underlying assumptions that are broadly held. As a Product Manager, you will work at all levels of the organization, and must be very familiar with the needs of senior management.
Qualifications and experience:
Essential
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of the Biopharmaceutical outsourcing market, specifically utilizing ligand binding and cell based assays. Knowledge required in the following areas:
- Biopharmaceutical development
- Immunogenicity testing
- Pharmacokinetic/toxicokinetic analysis
- Biomarkers / immunophenotyping
- Potency and stability assays
- Assay development and validation
- Applicable regulatory guidelines
- Small molecule drug development
- Protein biomarker analysis / immunophenotyping
- Knowledge of key competing service providers in the areas of Immunogenicity testing, Biomarkers, Pharmacokinetic analysis and potency testing.
- Knowledge of the key molecular, ligand binding and cell based assay platforms (eg qPCR, NGS, ELISA, Luminex, Electrochemiluminescence, DELFIA, Flow Cytometry, Gyros, Surface Plasmon Resonance).
- Awareness of the application of molecular, ligand binding and cell based assays in regulated markets.
- Appreciation of emerging technologies and markets in the field of Biopharmaceutical drug development and biomarker analysis.
- Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical and biotech industry.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively prepare and present highly technical scientific presentations.
- Previous experience in facilitating technical discussions needed to qualify specific project issue(s), coupled with the ability to translate this into EMD Millipore’s capabilities to potential partners and customers.
- Experience in defining and executing specific program objectives, goals, metrics and implementation plans.
- Excellent problem solving, time management and account management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including knowledge of common business software (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc).
- Approx. 25% overnight travel (including some international) is required.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Life Sciences (or the equivalent education/experience mix to successfully produce desired results). MBA desirable.
- Minimum 3 years of Product Management, Marketing, Sales or directly relevant experience is required.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Assume responsibility for all marketing and commercial aspects of the assigned service portfolio.
- Coordinating in-depth market research to develop market needs for bioanalytical services
- Translating market needs to market-ready solutions
- Leading and working with new service development teams
- pricing and competitive analysis
- Development of, with Marketing Communications, strong positioning collateral, applications, marketing and advertising programs
- Development of and execution of new product training for global sales and sales support teams
- Field sales and marketing with technical and commercial support.
- Proactively practicing and applying life cycle management to the service portfolio
- Manage cross-functional collaboration to successfully generate and develop new opportunities including Marketing, Scientific Development and Scientific Operations groups.
- Hold the primary responsibility for developing and managing the commercial aspects of relationship with key clients.
- Serves as a contact for Discovery and Development Specialists to conduct, high level presentations of BioPharma Services portfolio and Merck Millipore capabilities.
- Utilizing comprehensive application/service knowledge to successfully conduct effective consultative selling presentations.
- Represent Merck Millipore BioPharma Services at key industry events and consortia.
- Conducts and evaluates market research for “Voice of Customer Feedback” to validate the strategic marketing direction of the Company and the corresponding RD product/service development plans.
- To ensure that all work is performed in compliance with the Company’s Quality System, Health and Safety policies and current legislation.
- To attend internal and external training courses.
- To perform other duties as required by Company management
