Product Manager – Solutions recruitment

Job ID: 12126

Position Description:
PIMCO is seeking an analytically-oriented equity Product Manager to be a member of the Firm's highly effective Solutions Group. Since the Global Financial Crisis, investors have demanded a deeper understanding of prospects for returns in the markets for risk assets and in the latent correlations among assets which become explicit only during periods of market turbulence. Clients, with their consultants, have turned to their asset managers for help in understanding how to adapt their asset allocations in light of these concerns. Since 2009, the Solutions Group has helped been at the forefront of dealing with these issues and has helped redefine how our account management teams interact with their clients.

Solutions team members work with client facing colleagues to quantify the risks in client portfolios. Risk reviews are comprehensive and include an assessment of capital commitments not only to liquid, public markets but also to the illiquid alternative investments and to hedge funds. Reviews look through broad asset class exposures to underlying risk factors and rely on forward looking views of returns to underlying risk factors that are based on PIMCO's macroeconomic-oriented investment process.

Thorough risk reviews allow the client to clearly express their investment concerns and PIMCO professionals to thoughtfully propose investment solutions. PIMCO investment professionals approach the review process in a highly objective manner but with an eye to finding ways in which our portfolio management teams can help our clients better achieve their investment objectives - including how they should approach opportunities in the equity markets.

PIMCO's approach to managing equity risks embraces the concepts of active management, global orientation and downside risk management and we have adapted our approach to reviewing portfolio risks with these concepts in mind and have begun to approach clients.

The successful candidate, working with senior members of the equity, product management and analytics teams will define and drive this new effort. The effort is new and the upside for the right individual is large. The successful candidate will initially be based in our Newport Beach office although over the intermediate term, may relocate to New York. Over time, opportunities might arise in Europe or Asia.

Formed in 2009, the PIMCO Solutions Group comprises 25 investment professionals who work either as Product Managers or as members of the Firm's Client Facing analytics group. (Product managers drive the firm's individual product lines and play a significant role in the development of new products. Members of the Client Facing Analytics team adapt the firm's portfolio management technology to address investment issues of concern to firm clients.)
