Full Job Description
Principal Responsibilities:
- Risk Management
o Adhere to department risk policies, procedures and best practices.
o Reassess existing processes and suggest new ones that most effectively anticipate, manage and reduce risk to the business and its participants.
o Strengthen controls over risk and comply with corporate initiatives, including but not limited to: New Initiatives Process (NIC), Management Self Identification of Audit Issues, Management Control and Awareness Rating (MCAR), Operational Risk Control Self Assessments (RCSA), etc.
- Product Risk
o Conduct research to support margining methodologies.
o Identify, analyze and implement new margining methodologies and enhance existing margining methodologies.
o Collaboratively work with colleagues and management to resolve issues relating to the daily calculation and monitoring of market risk exposures in the various subsidiaries.
o Report and escalate problems to senior management, as required.
o Review and analyze information provided by the Financial Analytics Unit to establish appropriate margins and-or thresholds for participants-members.
o Monitors the markets to assess impact on and reviews market exposures for member firm portfolios.
o Factoring in a solid understanding of business lines, implement ERM and-or Product Management initiatives to improve efficiency and efficacy, as well as serve as a subject matter expert.
o Assist in coordinating with Quantitative Risk
Experience:
- 5+ years of directly related experience.
- Risk Management experience, specifically exposure to various trading products, experience in market risk and product management preferably with an emphasis in the brokerage industry.
- Experience with front office, product control-finance, middle office and-or back office activities within Banking and Capital Markets.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Strong knowledge of valuation and-or transaction processing of fixed income, commodity, equity and foreign exchange cash and derivative products.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to develop a detailed understanding of business lines and serve as subject matter expert.
- Familiarity with credit risk management, risk rating systems, and-or regulatory capital a plus.
- Familiarity with Basel II requirements or Federal Reserve and The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) examination standards a plus.
- Ability to identify and capitalize upon opportunities to create efficiency and promote effectiveness.
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple deadlines at one time.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Demonstrated integrity within a professional environment.
- Experience with Bloomberg and Reuters.
