A little bit about the role:
SkyWave’s Product Engineering team has an opening for a Product Test Engineer with software development experience. The main function of this role is to develop applications that both interact and automate SkyWave’s test stations and analyze the collected test results. The potential candidate will work within a small group of engineers responsible for the testing and fault analysis of SkyWave’s terminals.
Responsibilities:
· The majority of the work will be to continue SkyWave’s efforts to automate its production testing and investigative test platforms. This includes the planning, writing, debugging and release testing for the software deployed to multiple contract manufacturers.
· Perform the hands-on verification and functional testing of the software. Ensuring the software’s performance is adequate across all test stations and product lines.
· Design and coding of software tools that assist in the control and maintenance of the SQL test databases as well as the analysis of the results.
· Interfacing with various departments to ensure the integrity and objective of the software is correct. These departments would include DSP and firmware development, manufacturing, and hardware engineering.
· Development of supporting documentation.
· Assist in the root cause analysis of hardware, hands on troubleshooting of terminals, support of contract manufacturers and the development and verification of the test station hardware.
Required Experience/Knowledge:
· Experience in programming .Net applications (VB or C#) in a Windows environment
· Controlling and querying test or production equipment or similar hardware: interfaces such as LXI, GPIB, RS232 and comfortable with learning various API’s.
· Designing user interfaces in Windows applications
· Knowledge of SQL queries and basic database principles
· At least 5 years of experience as a test or automation engineer, test engineer or software developer within the high tech sector.
Beneficial Experience:
· Developed software in a team environment and familiar with Subversion or other version control software
· Knowledge of basic electronics and RF measurements
· Constructed windows applications and deployed installation packages
· Experience with any of the following: XML , LabView, WikiMedia
