Product Validation Test Engineer- Engines Job in Wichita Western, Kansas US
Job Description
Basic Function:
Assist in the test validation process of the full line of manufactured and outsourced products. Includes both field and lab testing to determine the functionality, durability, and reliability of prototype designs before release to Manufacturing.
- Lead diesel engine test planning, test execution and other personnel as assigned.
- Test prototype machines and components in actual or simulated field or lab conditions. Evaluate engines, cooling systems, and engine emissions, for Tier IV.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive test records.
- Create test reports and summaries concerning machines or components tested.
- Possibility of some travel to other test sites.
- Communicate with Lab Supervisor, Engineering, and Manufacturing regarding test status and results.
- Setup and installation of data acquisition equipment and components on vehicles.
- Plan and conduct complex endurance and performance tests.
- Support design reviews, FMEAs, and robust design experiments.
- Representative Activities: Perform complex tests in the lab or field. Install components on vehicles or test stands. Install transducers to test vehicles. Set up instrumentation and calibrate. Acquire data and process into final format for analysis.
Position Dimensions:
Requires excellent PC skills in Word and Excel as well as ability to use special technical applications. Excellent verbal and written skills to create accurate technical reports. Good mechanical hands-on skills needed.
Typical Decisions Made:
Requirements
- BS in Mechanical or Ag Engineering or related field of study
- 2 to 5 years’ experience in product testing or equivalent
- Must have working knowledge of diesel engine components/systems and diesel test methodology
- Ability to use and operate SoMat eDaq data acquisition equipment or comparable
- Intermediate to Advanced experience with MS office products
- Must be able to travel up to 10% both international and domestic
Assets:
- Previous experience with Agricultural and/or construction equipment
- Mechanical aptitude and strong "hands on" ability
- Exhibit proven leadership skiills and desires
