Description
 
Surmont Phase 1 is an in-situ SAGD project consisting of a 27,000bbl/d central processing facility, with two pads, 36 horizontal well pairs and a network of vertical observation wells.  The Production Engineer is responsible for managing and optimizing the well pads, observation wells, water source and disposal wells and any associated surface facilities. The Production Engineer will be responsible for ensuring optimal production rates and revenue generation for the Surmont Phase 1 project.

Responsibilities

  • Support and comply with the policies, goals, efforts, and programs of CPC's Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management System
  • Provide production engineering expertise within a multi-disciplinary team to monitor, analyze and optimize SAGD well production
  • Collaborate with both Field Operations and Reservoir Engineering to ensure adequate field surveillance and production data integrity
  • Optimize artificial lift (Gas Lift, ESP and PCP) and manage well servicing or workovers
  • Troubleshoot surface facility issues (separation, metering, etc)
  • Plan and manage well interventions, ESP/PCP conversions, new well completions and maintenance workovers
  • Plan and manage new well start ups (steam circulation phase and SAGD phases)
  • Support the development of a well integrity program
  • Mentor junior production engineering staff
  • Provide support to the Surmont Phase 2 execution team
  • Project Management
  • Prepare and manage budget forecasts
  • Support Operations Excellence initiatives
  • Identify and recommend new technologies to improve the SAGD recovery process
  • Establish and maintain relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Provide periodic updates to internal management and Joint Venture partners
  • Actively participate of the department’s Knowledge Sharing activities
  • This role will require approximately 10% travel to our Surmont Facility
