POSITION SUMMARY: The Project Specialist is responsible for performing engineering duties in assistance to operations, leading process improvement activities in the production areas and advancing safety, quality and productivity performance. This position will also maintain, develop, update and train production teams on process standards and documentation to facilitate consistent operations. JOB DESCRIPTION: Researches, designs, evaluates, installs, operates, and maintains mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet requirements of production, applying knowledge of engineering principles. Confers with engineers, maintenance, and production personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system, malfunctions and provide technical information. Recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or sys malfunctions improve process reliability. Conducts research that test or analyzes the feasibility, design operation, or performance of equipment, components or systems. Investigates equipment failures difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and implement improvements with the production maintenance teams. Develops and tests models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications and necessity of modification. Develops, coordinates, or monitors all aspects of production including selection of manufacturing methods, conditions, procedures, and design. Supports the execution of production schedules in a fast-paced factory 24/7 factory environment. Develops detailed technical understanding of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Plans designs methods to improve efficiency in production. Will be assigned specific production improvement tasks. Will identify improvement opportunities. Practices superior personal safety and lead the organization in terms or employee safety and protection of company assets. Adheres to and cooperates with factory, divisional and Nestle quality standards/requirements and department(s) in order to build consumer trust and preference by providing quality brands, products and services; maintains and ensures 0 defect and 0 waste attitude without compromising safety or regulatory compliance. Learns and assures compliance with approved methods and quality standards. Utilizes SAP, Microsoft Office, Visio, Minitab to manage and identify performance opportunities. Other duties as assigned. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum): EDUCATION: B. S. in Mechanical, Electrical, Ag, Manufacturing or Chemical Engineering required. Experience (Years/Type): A minimum of 3 months co-op/internship experience required in an Industrial/Manufacturing environment. Must have initiative, responsibility, leadership potential and strong mechanical skills and a solid work ethic. Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.
