TrellisWare is looking for a Program Manager capable of managing several related projects ranging from $800k to $8M in size aimed at improving the performance and marketability of an overall product line.
In practice, this role will be closely related to systems engineering in its functions, managing customer-funded and IRAD efforts involving embedded and application software development, hardware development, mechanical and User Interface (UI) improvements.
The candidate must have extensive engineering background and an established track record in managing the design, integration, test, manufacture and deployment of software defined radio (SDR) communication products ranging from complete handheld radios to high speed modems to waveforms from prototype through production.
The ideal candidate will have the PM process disciplines of a large military defense contractor combined with the drive to streamline those processes to meet the needs of a fast-paced start-up. The candidate must be a highly effective communicator, both written and oral, and team leader with proven ability to build long-term relationships with internal and external customers.
Program management responsibilities will include managing hardware, software and systems engineering teams leading to both the fulfillment of contractual obligations and extension of product line capabilities. Business development responsibilities could include everything from customer interfaces, customer review meetings, proposal development, capture management including identifying teaming/partnering opportunities, and opportunities to partner with suppliers/system integrators.
Requirements:
•BA/BS Engineering Degree plus 5-7 years PM experience including experience project management tools.
•Experience with military communication products and government contracting.
•Ability to manage the efforts of hardware, application and embedded software, waveform, mechanical engineering and key suppliers in terms of performance, cost and schedule.
•Ability to interface with management on schedules, meetings, and risk tracking.
•Ability to advise management of individual program execution status and risks on a regular basis as well as opportunities for increased efficiency.
•Ability to anticipate potential areas for schedule delays and formulate/recommend plans for alternative actions is necessary.
•Strong writing skills are of paramount importance for customers, proposal and briefing interactions.
•Ability to plan and execute multi-discipline rapid development programs.
•Originality and initiative in the face of unusual or extreme execution pressures.
•Small company attitude – ability and willingness to do things themselves vs. staffing them out.
