They are seeking a Programs Coordinator, in Alexandria, VA.

 

Summary

The Programs Coordinator coordinates the administrative, strategic development and evaluation functions of the Programs Team for collegiate and alumni/technical professional programs in the areas of Academic Excellence, Technical Excellence and Chapter Development. He/she is responsible for coordinating and implementing
program activities on the national, regional and chapter levels. This position is also responsible for developing materials that promote programs and awards to members and chapters via various communications media.  Specific programs activities that the position will support include, but are not limited to the following.

•Collegiate Competitions (Academic and Technical)

•Academic Excellence Programs

•Scholarship Management

•APEx Status Management and Grade Point Average Confirmations

•Business Diversity / NSBEpreneur Programs

•Graduate Student Program Development

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership

1.Serves as primary contact and team lead for  programs in the specified program areas;

2.Responds via telephone and email to member inquiries regarding collegiate programs in the specified program areas;

3.Coordinates program activities and events in the specified program area;

4.Coordinates promotional mailings and other initiatives for specified program area;

5.Maintains databases of program participants in collegiate competitions and programs;

6.Assists in the coordination of scholarship selection and award distribution process;

7.Coordinates program surveys, evaluation assessments and reports for collegiate and alumni programs;

8.Coordinates  marketing materials and web text for program activities;

9.Assist in the solicitation of strategic partners relative to program areas;

10.Responsible for developing and giving presentations to partners, members and prospective partners;

11.Assist with the writing or editing of program content for publications and web media;

12.Provides administrative support to the Programs Department including:

a.Clerical, filing, copying, light lifting, and writing;

13.Other duties as assigned by the Programs Manager or Director of Programs;

14.Coordinate all staff publications (newsletters, etc.) and distribute to all staff;

15.Provide update to website update to programs areas;

Communication

1.Participate in regular staff meetings (weekly supervisors, rotation meetings).

2.Responds via telephone and email to member inquiries regarding specified program areas;

3.Develop and coordinate promotional mailings and other initiatives for specified program area;

4.Work co-operatively with the Programs Team to provide an effective communication network.

5.Submits quarterly written reports to Director, Programs;

Technical

1.Understand the overall goals and objectives of all programs.

2.Follow and implement procedures to evaluate and measure programs;

3.Conduct program surveys, evaluation assessments and reports for all programs;

4.Create and process outgoing correspondence to staff, membership and strategic partners

5.Implement advertising/promotions plan of program.

6.Be professional, organized and approachable.

Education/Experience:

B.S. or B.A. desired, but not required (Background in science, engineering, or business a plus); or one year or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Previous experience in working with college and/or pre-college students is a plus.  Experience in the development, coordination,  implementation and evaluation of summer programs for students are also a plus.

 

Skills Overview

Must possess reasonable oral and written communication skills, and organization skills. Word processing and database skills required. Must have ability to work in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment under minimal supervision. Must have the ability to take initiative to solve problems and be able to handle and prioritize multiple
projects. Must have some experience with short-term strategic planning and goal setting. Typing at least 45wpm. Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Power Point.  Creative and critical thinking skills are desired.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports,business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and
the general public.

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and accounting.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Database software and Contact Management systems.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Travel:

Occasional travel is required to collegiate or alumni chapters and other industry related events, or meetings as assigned by Supervisor. Travel to National Convention and Fall Regional Conferences are required.
