Enviva’s mission is to become the preferred partner and supplier of sustainably-sourced wood pellets and other processed biomass to serve power generation and industrial customers seeking to decrease their dependence on fossil fuels and reduce their carbon footprint. Enviva has been supplying wood chips and wood pellets to customers in the U.S. and Europe since 2007, and recently announced a long-term wood pellet supply contract with Electrabel, a subsidiary of GDF SUEZ Group, one of the largest utilities in the world. Enviva has raised private equity capital to support its development efforts and project financing needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a critical member of the Finance Team, the Project Accountant is responsible for the administration and the financial reporting of construction projects located within Virginia.
Responsibilities include:
- Biweekly presentation to Senior Management of project performance showing commitments to date and projected commitments through the end of the project.
- Tracking of all project purchase order commitments against phase and task level budgets.
- Daily communication with the Project Manager and Purchase Accountant to ensure that all PO’s are issued timely and that there are never verbal commitments issued.
- Timely receipt of all goods and services procured during the project to protect the company against unrecorded liabilities.
- Daily management of the open PO report to ensure that all commitments are progressing through the process timely and accurately.
- Responsible for ensuring that all purchase orders have been properly approved within company authorization levels.
- Daily communication with Project Manager regarding budget adjustments in accordance with company control guidelines.
- Proper capture and accrual of all sales tax liabilities and the coordination of monthly filings.
- Gather all vendor invoices, discuss any PO variances with the Purchase Accountant and obtain approval for payment from the Project Manager (when necessary).
- Provide administration of the Accounts Payable function within Virginia.
- Other tasks as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- B.A. /B.S. in Accounting or Finance is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in procurement or accounts payable with a manufacturing organization.
- Project accounting experience preferred.
- Strong analytical abilities, organized with attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with all levels of staff.
- Motivated self-starter. Comfortable working in unstructured environment.
- Expert knowledge of Excel, Word and accounting systems is required.
Compensation will consist of a competitive base salary and bonus potential.
