PROJECT COORDINATOR FOR DATABASE ADMINISTRATION
This position will be the lead managerial and technical position for the LSUHSC-NO database administration group. LSUHSC-NO’s database administration group provides technical support, administration, and maintenance for over 300 centrally managed LSUHSC databases located in data centers in both Baton Rouge and New Orleans. These databases host administrative and clinical applications used throughout the academic and hospital campuses. The database administration group is also the PeopleSoft Administrator for Financials and Campus Solutions systems including administrative duties for Tuxedo Application Server Domains and Process Scheduler.
Primary position responsibilities will be to:
1) Manage, prioritize, coordinate, and provide direction for the activities of the team of IT analysts who install, administer, monitor, and upgrade LSUHSC-NO’s centrally hosted databases
2) Lead the diagnostic and problem resolution efforts when highly technical, complex problems arise in system environments
3) Direct activities for the maintenance, upgrade, and trouble-shooting for PeopleSoft databases and BEA Tuxedo Middle-ware environments (Application Server Domain and Process Scheduler)
4) Research, recommend, and implement support strategies and new technologies necessary to maintain a stable and modern database computer infrastructure upon which clinical and administrative applications can be deployed
5) Plan, coordinate, and lead disaster recovery preparedness procedures related to the protection and recovery of databases, IT applications, and equipment
The ideal candidate will possess:
1) The ability to lead, and work cooperatively with, a team of IT analysts in a complex and dynamic computing environment
2) The ability to analyze and resolve highly technical hardware and software problems
3) The ability to manage multiple, complex projects simultaneously
4) Proficient with Database Administration tools and processes
5) The ability to research and develop strategies for database support
6) The ability to interact professionally with IT personnel, the non-technical user community, and hardware/software vendors
7) Excellent verbal and written communication skills
8) A high degree of self-motivation and willingness to work beyond normal business hours as needed
9) A familiarity with a variety of IT’s concepts, practices, and procedures
10) A reliance on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
11) A high level of proficiency and experience with
· Server level operating systems ( Windows 2000/2003/2008, Red Hat Linux )
· Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005/2008
· MySql
· PeopleSoft Architecture including BEA Tuxedo Middle-ware
· MS Office Suite

Bachelor of Science degree is required from an accredited four-year college or university in Computer Science, Math, Physics, Engineering or other technical curriculum. A Bachelor of Science degree in business or a non-technical curriculum with 3 years of relevant experience will also be accepted.
