Project Coordinator Job in London Ec4a 3Bf, London Uk

                             Programme Management Co-ordinator

The Company

The GSM Association is the world's leading wireless industry representative body, consisting of more than 630 second and third generation wireless network operators and key manufacturers and suppliers to the wireless industry. The Association's members provide digital wireless services to more than 800 million customers – or 71% of the world’s digital wireless market.

Today, many complex business and financial challenges face the GSMA’s membership. In the midst of the most turbulent of economic climates for the telecommunications sector, there are significant pressures on operators to generate new revenue streams from data services, following billions invested in the evolution introduction of next generation high-speed IP wireless networks.

These pressures mean there is a critical need for the operator community to collectively focus on the needs of the market and work together to create global platforms and avoid the mistakes of the recent past i.e. fragmentation of early data services such as WAP and MMS. The GSMA seeks on behalf of its members to reinvigorate the principles for wireless data that have made GSM a phenomenal worldwide success in the sphere of voice and text, such as global roaming of wireless services.

Today’s market realities demand a trade Association that is more than a technical powerhouse, but a market driven, commercially focused nimble organisation with a corporate- like decision strategy setting structure that is capable of agreeing and accelerating operator needs into the market. This has necessitated fundamental restructuring of the GSMA to incorporate top down operator CEO level decision making and a new mission to: “Accelerate the implementation of commercially prioritised, collectively identified operator requirements”

To that end the GSMA has appointed its first ever governing board of operator chief executives, in an effort to put operators back in the industry driving seat. The board comprises CEOs of 23 GSMA member companies, including 12 of the largest mobile operators in the world.
