Project Manager
The Risk systems within the Commodities function of this top tier investment bank continue to attract investment. The team of 12 developers and business analysts are complemented by near shore matrix resources. As Project Manager you will have some direct and matrix ownership for these resources. Medium term the plan is for the Project Manager to take leadership responsibility for the whole function. This is a high profile, front office facing role which will be demanding and rewarding.
To succeed, you will have solid experience of running technical projects, to drive several delivery streams in the Commodities risk area.
Responsibilities/Tasks:
- Managing complex multi-team projects, helping with analysis where required, and overseeing development activities
- Gaining a deep understanding of one or more risk management platforms and aiming to become an SME.
- Managing relationships with key stakeholders (Front Office, MRM, MO, finance et al) and demonstrating and acquiring detailed business knowledge around the various Commodities businesses
- Ensure the project and associated business case are scoped, initiated and approved according to required procedures
- Ensure the project is planned in a manner that delivers to the required cost and quality and within the agreed scope, including appropriate milestone definition, work breakdown structure, dependencies, and assumptions
Experience/Exposure:
- Experience of running successful projects or teams of various sizes – ideally across multiple locations and teams (must have an understanding of matrix management)
- Experience of risk management, ideally involving Front Office trading platforms. This does not need to be in a Commodities context, though that would be an advantage
- Ideally experience of attribution and downstream risk systems as well as that around the Front Office – CVA and counterparty credit risk, PL and so on.
- A strong technical background (ideally as a programmer)
- A strong aptitude for problem solving, coupled with an excellent academic background in a scientific or mathematic discipline such as engineering, physics, maths, computing science.
- A strong understanding of SDLCs, including agile methodologies
