Responsibilities Responsible to ensure all engineering project work meets all commitments to the client consistent with the Kiewit Power Engineers Quality Plan. Maintains lead communicator position with client, manages client expectations, advises Kiewit Power Engineers senior management on project status. Provides project leadership, definition, and direction to the project team. Ensures that project is properly staffed with qualified technical and administrative personnel so that project schedules and budget are met. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but is not necessarily limited to the following. - Responsible for managing, directing, and building of project teams by providing the communication, coordination and follow-up necessary to meet the project goals and objectives. - Maintains ongoing training and mentoring of project team. - Ability to manage one or more projects and one or more clients at an given time. - Familiarity with substation, overhead transmission line, underground transmission line design, procurement, and construction. - Ability to lead Power Delivery project proposal development. - Ability to successfully negotiate contracts and establish lasting relationships with Power Delivery clients. - Provides ongoing project information and project reviews as required by management. - Establishes project procedures consistent with contractual documents and the Kiewit Power Engineers Quality Plan for engineering work. - Monitors and ensures all discipline work is in compliance with project procedures. - Ensures all work products are consistent with industry standards and in accordance with good engineering practice and applicable codes, and in compliance with all pertinent legal codes and requirements. - Ensures scope of work, schedule, and budget are clearly defined and understood by senior management and all project participants, including client. - Determines, controls, and maintains overall project and discipline schedules and budgets. - Tracks schedule and budget progress with project milestones and takes all action necessary to keep project on track. - Identifies and secures necessary approvals for all changes in project scope, budget and/or schedule. - Maintains ongoing communication with client, making adjustments as necessary to comply with client's needs within contractual obligations, or adjusting project deliverables to meet client and Kiewit needs. - Serves as Kiewit s project representative with client, constructor, subcontractors, and vendors at Kick-Off meetings, job walks, project review, and other meetings and correspondence. - Maintains current working knowledge of Power Delivery engineering fundamentals and practices through continued education and continuous review of discipline improvements. Qualifications COMPUTER SKILLS To perform this job successfully, the individual must be familiar with basic computer operation and must be competent in the use of computer software applications used by Kiewit for project control and administration, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.. It is highly desirable that the individual will have knowledge of computer assisted engineering and design software. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE A Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in an engineering field from an ABET accredited four-year college or university program is required. Position requires approximately 10 or more years experience in performing Power Delivery or Power Industry engineering and design related projects. A professional engineering license is required. TRAVEL Occasional travel is required for the purpose of investigation at the site of the project, visiting existing and/or perspective clients, company marketing, and meeting with vendors, construction contractor, or project partners. Willingness to travel for long-term assignments is desirable. Inspects construction site to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering drawings, specifications, and construction.
