Project - Associate Technical Analyst

** This position requires flexibility for evening hours and weekends as well as being apart of an on-call rotation. **

The Technical Analyst will maintain existing workflows and systems as designed by our Engineering team. They will act as liaison between our product development teams and engineering teams, aligning product requirements with workflows designed to deliver on stated goals. The Technical Analyst will ensure that ESPN is delivering on agreed upon contractual obligations with our video distribution partners. They will monitor and troubleshoot production workflow components, system infrastructure issues, and take timely action to solve and/or properly escalate issues. They will regularly provide technical reports of production service issues.

This is a project position with an estimated length of 1.5 years.

-Diagnose complex video acquisition and distribution problems related to web, tablet, phone, game console, and other platforms

-Perform maintenance on related systems

-Recommend system changes that introduce efficiency

-Reduce system failure by recommending changes, and in some cases, implementing changes with little supervision

-Minimum of 5 years of digital video acquisition and distribution or related experience, including a minimum of 2 years experience with Internet video related technologies
-Experience in a technical role operating and maintaining high availability, internal and/or public-facing Internet services
-Ability to interpret and act upon alerts presented by various monitoring systems
-Ability to work is a fast-paced and sometimes stressful 24 x 7 news organization
-Verbal and written communication skills are critical
-Must have excellent leadership, interpersonal and motivational skills

-Degree in computer science or related program from a College, University, Technical School or comparable is desired
-Experience with Video encoding for web, mobile, tablet, and game consoles
-Experience with CDN technologies
-Understanding of TCP/IP network architectures
-System administration background (LINUX/UNIX/Win Server 2003/2008) is a plus
Minor/Major in engineering or computer science or equivalent experience
