Project/Porfolio Manager Job in San Francisco, California US

As a member of the Infrastructure Portfolio Management team you will utilize your excellent communication, interpersonal, technical, and organizational skills in a fast paced, highly technical environment helping Infrastructure Services teams manage and deliver the project portfolio. You will be responsible for managing the portfolio planning processes across the infrastructure services teams. These teams manage the internal external systems and infrastructure for all our clients  services. The mission of Infrastructure Portfolio Management is to ensure that our client invests in and executes the right projects and programs to fulfill its strategy. The Portfolio Planning Manager works with product owners and project managers to facilitate the portfolio planning processes, including intake, prioritization, scoping, and project selection. The Portfolio Planning Manager ensures that the change control process is followed and tracks changes to the overall portfolio and release plan. The successful candidate will have a solid background in technical project/program management as well as experience with portfolio management. An ideal candidate understands technical operations processes and technologies and is experienced in portfolio management.

Responsibilities
• Facilitate meetings and one-on-one sessions with product owners and delivery teams to review project requirements, priority, and scope
• Manage release planning, including project intake, scoping, estimation, high level planning, prioritization, and communication
• Manage portfolio backlog using our custom application and large/complex Excel-based tool
• Oversee weekly change management meetings
• Act as POC for communication of the prioritized backlog with all project owners, stakeholders, Infrastructure Services teams, and management
• Participate in and take a significant role in release planning process and identifying portfolio tool process improvement work
• Promote continuous improvement and help teams increase productivity and foster innovation

Experience/Skills Required
• Bachelors degree and 7+ years of hands-on strong technical program management experience
• Experience (2+ years) directly managing a team focused on portfolio or project management
• Experience with project portfolio management (PPM) practices
• Experience with ppm toolsets such as CA Clarity, HP, Powersteering, Planview, etc.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate up, down, and across the organization
• Experience facilitating planning processes in a fast-paced, high growth, ambiguous technical environment is essential
• Outstanding organizational and relationship building skills
• Ability to work well in a cross-functional, matrixed environment
• Ability to prioritize tasks efficiently with high level of attention to detail
• Team oriented collaborative approach to problem solving
• Ability to quickly establish credibility and rapport with technical team members
• Ability to work under tight deadlines while being flexible and responding to changing business and technical conditions
• Strong quantitative, analytic, and problem solving skills
• Strong knowledge of Excel is required
• Experience using common productivity tools (e.g., MS Project, Visio, PowerPoint, and document sharing tools such as Google docs)
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings

Experience/Skills Desired
• Experience delivering technical infrastructure projects
• Knowledge and experience with the clients platform and services
•  Administrator Certification
• Experience using Agile tools such as Greenhopper (Atlassian) or ADM
• Experience with SaaS/Cloud computing
• Technical hands-on experience as a SW developer, Sys Admin, DBA, Storage Engr or NW Admin.
