Overview:
As a Propulsion Engineer, you’ll be committed to defining the cutting edge every day by helping turn intriguing ideas into powerful realities. You will be called upon to develop a variety of technical solutions that are imaginative, thorough, practical, and consistent with organization objectives. Your roles can run the gamut from defining requirements for propulsion systems, auxiliary power systems and vehicle fuel and tank systems, to developing concepts for future propulsion systems that meet anticipated requirements.
Sample Responsibilities, Based on Experience:
- Assists in developing specifications for associated vehicle systems to meet customer and regulatory requirements.
- Configures or designs propulsion sub-systems and components to meet all vehicle design and performance criteria.
- Shapes long-term strategy and policy at a business unit or industry level on all aspects of propulsion system, auxiliary power system and fuel system design, integration, testing and certification.
- Develops new concepts, theories and products that extend knowledge in propulsion integration.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
- ABET is preferred, although not required.
- Master’s degree or PhD with related experience is required for more senior levels.
