 Group Communications work together with all divisions of the Group.  We develop the tools and communications that will both protect and develop our reputation. We handle press queries, understand the latest economic trends, support internal projects and make sure our messages reach the right people, at the right time in the right way. Our specialist teams are; Media Relations, Group Economics, Public Affairs, Brand Communication, Corporate, Responsibility, Research, and Communications Services.

In Public Affairs our role is to protect and enhance the long term commercial and reputational interests of the RBS Group. Our expertise lies in helping RBS to actively manage the business and reputational risk the political process generates.

In this high profile Public Affairs Manager role, you'll advise on the Group’s engagement strategy, and assess the impact of regulatory change and political developments, advising the business accordingly. You'll also provide strategic advice to senior internal stakeholders on legislative issues that could have an impact on the Group. And you'll proactively identify opinion formers and, build up contact networks to provide intelligence to the business. You'll ensure industry working groups and associations are aware of the Group's positions, and influenced by them.

Ideally as a Public Affairs Manager, you'll have front line politics or journalistic experience, and a wide range of contacts in government and parliament. You'll also have excellent writing skills, and the ability to sift through complex or lengthy material, and present it in an easily readable form. Knowledge of how UK and ideally European policy is formulated is essential. Additionally, you'll have an expert understanding of how media works and its affects on political discourse.
