Public Policy Interns Job in Washington, District Of Columbia US

Job Description:

Perform entry level assignments to assist the Public Affairs Policy and Communications department with implementation of Verizon's public affairs plan and public policy initiatives for internal and external audiences.  Tasks may include:  assisting in research, event planning, preparing presentations, monitoring trade press and digital media sites, and preparing memoranda regarding telecommunications issues.  Tasks may also include:  developing and writing legislative and regulatory action plans, analyzing pending legislation, attending legislative hearings, and preparing memoranda regarding telecommunications issues currently under scrutiny on Capitol Hill or at Federal Agencies.  Assist in the creation and implementation of communications plans for internal and external audiences.  Assist with research projects and budget administration.  Handle other administrative tasks as needed.

 

Required Skills Experience:

*  College sophomore, junior, or senior, majoring in political science, English, economics, engineering/computer science, or related areas
*  Excellent verbal and writing / editing skills
*  Self-starter
*  Excellent time management skills; ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
*  Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
*  Thrives in fast paced environment
*  Positive, high-energy approach to assignments and a willingness to learn quickly

Desired Skills Experience:

A portfolio of writing samples will be reviewed prior to the interview
