Purchasing Assistant Job Description: Purchasing Assistant Will assist purchasing with purchase orders, bid requests; adding received goods to inventory; puchasing order filing and organizing, identifying manufacturing needs, and arranging delivery. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS DUTIES: - Assist with procurement of raw materials and services used for the manufacturing process. - Monitor and Manage the Shop Supply re-order point system (adding new items to the system, cross referencing vendors, cost, lead-time and calculating re-order point based on usage and lead time). - Performs general and program specific clerical functions - Occasionally Assist in Shipping/Receiving (cycle count, organizing/filing, Receiving/Stores reports, etc.) - Supports purchasing shop supply re-order point to adjust for item usage and trends. - As directed, monitor delivery schedules and implement aging Purchasing Order report. - Interface with Production Control Manager and Project Managers to discuss material shortages and customer commitments. Ensure clear and consistent communication between departments. - Manage Purchasing filing system, logging receivers and closing of Purchase Orders. - Inputting Purchase orders (Access and Deltek) - Work with SSG Accounting to resolve Accounts Payable issues. - Support vendor return Material Authorization Process EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Education and/or equivalent years of experience. - BS or BA in operations or other technical field preferred - 1- 3 years purchasing background / experience - American Production Inventory Control Society member or certification preferred - Working knowledge of MS-Office, Access, - Excel, Deltek purchasing module.
