The Purchasing Leader demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes in the supply chain function for the division. In this role you will use your experience or expertise to solve problems, mentor and provide leadership to department staff, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Understand strategies for assigned commodities and proactively drive initiatives to meet Sourcing objectives
- Identify and qualify new suppliers to ensure efficient execution of supply chain programs through the supplier(s)
- Assess supplier capabilities and make recommendations on supplier acceptability
- Ensure suppliers are in compliance with contractual requirements
- Implement sourcing standards including process execution, synergies for cost out
- Drive productivity opportunities with supply base to deliver cost out goals
- Support commodity buys
- Write reports to track Purchase Orders (PO) activity and supplier performance
- Analyze and track supplier promise date accuracy and develop reports to ensure supplier promise date accuracy
- Develop process to look upstream for pending requirements and drive Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sales in order to ensure sourcing given adequate cycle to procure material
- Place timely POs and obtain PO acknowledgements from suppliers
- Identify and implement metrics to drive short-term and long-term business goals related to Purchasing function
- Identify, document and implement process controls to standardize purchasing methods in a regulated manufacturing environment
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a Purchasing role with increasing responsibilities)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Sourcing position which includes high dollar OEM commodity management, pricing models and cost reduction
- Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience
Eligibility Requirements:
Ability and willingness to travel to suppliers as required
Desired Characteristics:
- ERP proficiency strongly preferred
- Purchase Order Life Cycle management experience strongly preferred
