The Quality Assurance Engineer position is seen as a fundamental role in assuring the success of these plans by focusing on the quality of our custom software and Enterprise Data Warehouse. In this position you will have responsibility for all aspects of the Business Intelligence reporting and data quality assurance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with the project managers, system administrators, release management, and development teams during the development, test, and launch phases of the software development and release cycle.
- Responsible for system/regression testing of Data Warehouse / BI solutions including ETL packages, stored procedures, SQL queries and other software and database objects.
- Develop and execute system test plans. Write and document detailed test cases based on business requirements and technical specifications. Develop and implement automated test scripts to ensure that source system data is accurately represented in the final reporting objects of the EDW.
- Track and report defects using tools such as Quality Center, map requirements to test cases, write complex SQL queries, collaborate with ETL developers and DBAs to coordinate releases and prepare release instructions.
- Lead and support QA process ensuring correct application of transformation logic from source to target.
- Coordinate and execute User Acceptance Testing.
- Implement and maintain standard best practices for Quality Control and Quality Analysis within the BI team.
- Coordinate and assist in developing an inventory of test plans, standard test scenarios, detailed test scripts, test verification procedures, and associated test case data for all supported functions
- Any additional testing deemed necessary by Management (e.g., volume/stress testing, security testing, business continuity/contingency testing, selected pilot/parallel testing, etc.)
- Perform database queries to validate test data
- Investigate and log test discrepancies and bugs. Work closely with project manager and developers to assist in communicating testing results and in resolving test discrepancies.

- BA/BS in Computer Science, related degree, or comparable experience
- 5+ years of professional experience testing ETL code for BI solutions
- Knowledge of SQL, PL-SQL, Oracle Forms, .NET, HTML, XML
- Broad experience in writing and executing test plans and test designs
- Solid background in both application systems and business processes
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to track process and data asynchronously across multiple systems
- Proven ability to both work independently and in a project management environment
- Effective team player
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Willingness to travel
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Proven skills communicating product readiness, level of quality, and results to the project team.
- Proven ability to review product specifications and documentation
- Strong understanding of all aspects of the QA role, and all areas of application testing
- Experience with Service Oriented Architectures and testing WebServices
- Experience with IBM or TIBCO portal and integration software a plus
- Experience with defect tracking systems and other software life cycle management tools
- Experience with Change Management and Configuration Management software
- Experience with EDW architecture design a plus.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- BA/BS in Computer Science, related degree, or comparable experience.
