The QA Manager will be responsible for all plant product quality and food safety programs ensuring product and processes are consistent and meet specifications. The role is also responsible for, and provides oversight for, the development of robust manufacturing control processes and related reports used throughout the plant. This includes ongoing maintenance and improvement of the HACCP, SSOP, and QCCP (Quality Critical Control Point) Programs. The QA Manager initiates projects related to product quality and food safety and participates in plant personnel training as necessary. Specifically, we seek an individual who can lead the facility to SQF certification. The role requires the individual to work cross-functionally with Production, Sanitation, Maintenance Departments and is 100% responsible for USDA-FSIS regulatory compliance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Train, motivate, and lead department technicians through proper expectations and accountability. Supervise three QC Technicians.
· Oversee all plant quality assurance and food safety programs; develop, maintain, and improve the HACCP, SSOP, and QCCP Programs.
· Liaise with FSIS on regulatory issues affecting plant operations.
· Communicate and coordinate effectively with functional groups (RD, Procurement, Engineering, and Production) on quality and process control related projects and issues.
· Coordinate quality improvement projects with all departmental teams.
· Be actively involved with production and product formulation as it relates to quality.
· Interact with and support regulatory agencies, vendors, and customers during inspections and audits.
· Accountable for driving successful actions and maintaining measurable improvement on the Quality Assurance.
· Understanding and experience working with FSIS pathogen reduction act and intervention strategies.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
· B.S. degree or higher in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, or related discipline.
· Previous experience of at least 5+ years as a Manager/Supervisor in Food Safety with a meat processing plant.
· Previous experience with Cook/RTE programs a must.
· HACCP Certification.
· SQF certification preferred (if no certification, then direct experience with SQF);
· Previous experience in leading a Continuous Improvement Plan for a Food Company.
· Hi-Tech a Must! Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is necessary.
· Excellent written and verbal skills.
