Quality Assurance Specialist
Set and monitor product standards, examining samples of product or directing testing during processing, to ensure finished products are of prescribed quality.
Quality control on product:
*inspect new items received on a container within 24 hours of receipt – identify any issues with % to unpack to inspect or approve going to stock
*inspect new item shipments to verify spec detail information from vendor information in NAV are correct
*handle QC issues from customer service, with a response within 24 hours
*coordinate QC issues with warehouse manager for inspection needs, labor incurred and QC claim forms filled out to be sent to inform vendor of issues/chargebacks/credit requests
*advise vendors of any issues by providing details, images, Arteriors labor involved, etc. via QC claim form
*add notes in NAV for internal use to inform of any issues, variances, changes made, etc. (block and/or maintain item information if necessary so not to add to future orders until issue resolved)
*identify any electrical issues, which need to be reviewed in a group meeting (which needs to include Mark)
*communicate QC issues to purchasing, PD, warehouse accounts payable for issues that will involve them (i.e. more stock ordered, change construction/finish, place item on hold until revised payment)
*review with Product development on all spec info for all new/existing items, analyze for potential problems or QC issues before they happen
*assist in product training to customer service sales
*maintain quality issue log with resolution tracking (including beginning and ending dates, communication to C/S, etc.)
*send out quality control log via e-mail detailing issues to internal management (to be separated by issue/problem)
*develop maintain vendor performance tracking for QC issues by vendor
*develop maintain QC inspection guidelines, which will be different per vendor per type of product
*develop installation instructions with warehouse manager as needed for products
Quality Control for internal processes:
*develop implement random inspection program for assembly
*develop implement random inspection program for packing
*establish goals for quality levels –
**manufacturer defects
**customer returns – broken/damaged
**customer returns-inferior product
Goals:
*drive down the number of returns
*inform quality expectation levels to vendors, customer service, customers, reps – TRAIN/EDUCATE
*become more proactive vs. reactive on QC issues – constant communication with vendors/agents
Later stages:
*assist in reviewing closeout listings to help analyze reduce inventory levels
*assist in reviewing projected sales with PD for a line analysis that determines TBD, WAT, CLS, etc.
*assist in reviewing PO’s for production orders coming from the purchasing department
*review top sellers in stock/out of stock status
*develop inventory management processes and analytics to increase our inventory efficiency
