The Quality Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Production Manager in driving quality activities within the production facility. Through the use and knowledge of the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System, Quality Tools, and Oerlikon Balzers Standards, the Quality Coordinator ensures that quality problems are effectively addressed and that quality standards are being implemented and adhered to within the production facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyze quality trends through data mining and analysis and conduct monthly Quality Council Meetings to help find and resolve quality issues through root cause analysis and problem solving processes (PSP).
- Conduct quality audits as prescribed by the local quality registration (ISO or Customer Requirements)
- Participate in the analysis and disposition of nonconforming product as required
- Interface with customers to resolve quality issues and facilitate quality-planning and development of work instructions for customer-specific requirements. These activities will require the use of various inspection equipment to include:
- X-ray Fluorescence (XRF)
- Spectral Analysis
- Various Hardness testers
- Visual inspection and Microscope
- Maintain and administrate the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Systems to ensure compliance with global, national and local requirements.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
- 2 year degree in Quality or a related discipline; Equivalent experience may substitute
- Professional certification in quality disciplines (ASQ Certified Quality Technician preferred)
- 4+ years of experience in a quality role within a manufacturing and/or production environment (stamping/forming, machining preferred)
- 2+ years of experience in metallurgy / materials science
- 2+ years of experience implementing and executing ISO 9001:2000/ ISO TS16949 standards is required
- Proficient using MS Office (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access) is required
- Ability to effectively use of problem-solving tools such as Pareto charts, SPC methodologies, cause and effect diagrams as well as 8D (or a similar problem solving discipline)
- Proven experience with APQP / PPAP disciplines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required as well as strong presentation and team-building skills
