In support of our growth, we are seeking to add a Quality Engineer / Inspection Supervisor position to our team. PECO personnel regularly interface with our customers, suppliers, and coworkers across business unit lines within manufacturing, accounting, purchasing, sales customer service, and engineering to analyze needs and develop solutions. It is imperative to our growth that we have a team of individuals who are willing to challenge ideas and continuously strive to make improvements.
As a member of the quality team, the Quality Engineer / Inspection Supervisor will partner with the Quality Assurance Manager to ensure quality standards are met and will work toward continually improving and promoting quality processes, products, and services. Specifically the Quality Engineer is responsible for:
Duties and Responsibilities
- May include the following; other duties may be assigned.
- Coordinate activities of inspectors in quality control functions (including receiving and in process inspection, sampling, vendor and final testing and inspection of finished products), to meet customer specifications and quality standards.
- Plan and lay out work, devise or adapt inspection equipment as necessary and assist with difficult problems involving inspection, setups, layouts or procedures.
- Suggest changes in inspection procedures, quality control standards, equipment and gauges to facilitate work and maintain quality.
- Prepare inspection reports and records.
- Determine causes for delays and faulty work, investigate consistently recurring rejects, consult with production managers and manufacturing engineers on causes and make suggestions for corrections.
- Assist in development of special department projects
- Work within the established Quality System.
- Compile and analyze customer and regulatory requirements to assess PECO’s ability to support them.
- Coordinate and support customer and agency audits.
- Develop and train Quality System Awareness and processes
- Train to and document ISO procedures where necessary.
- Support customer source inspections
- Manage inspection priorities
- Conduct and develop cross-training for QC workforce
- Develop, conduct and approve FAIs and manage completion schedule.
- Develop and improve inspection protocol and equipment
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directs and coordinates the work activities of the union hourly employees in the quality department. Carries out a leadership role in accordance with the organization’s practices and policies. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, and assigning job duties; addressing complaints and helping resolve problems.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline with five to ten years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience; Experience in Aerospace is required
- Prior management experience required
- Possess strong computer skills in Microsoft Office.
- AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 lead auditor training preferred.
- Possess strong business writing skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, make presentations and write concise reports for all levels of employees.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Ability to assess job scope and meet project deadlines.
