FOUNDRY QUALITY MANAGER -
Our client based, in the Midlands of the UK is one of the country's leading alloy steel foundries specialising in stainless steel castings. Their expertise ranges from alloy steel castings and machine castings for industry, to a range of smaller specialised batch castings.
The company offers prototyping to production to machining and specialise in highly cored, complex, machined steel sand castings. Their service extends to assisting customers from the conception and design for the cast steel process to supplying finished parts fully painted or plated for final assembly.
There is an immediate requirement for a QA Manager who will, in addition to supervising all QA/QC activities, perform all functions to manage, control; and maintain quality systems policies to ensure internal/external customer product specifications and company high quality standards are exceeded.
The role will be responsible for all quality standards and the implementation of quality management to comply with international standards such as ISO 9002, BSI and ASME. Other duties will also cover quality inspection activities within all manufacturing departments including the foundry, machine shop and assembly lines.
The successful applicant will be expected to continually seek to improve the quality of products and services so that they meet specific customers requirements in addition to standard procedures such as the implementation and updating of all Quality manuals and procedures, control standards and specifications.
It will also be essential to perform full liaison with sales and production personnel on quality specifications for customer requirements, and as applicable, to have meetings with customers to ensure compliance with their quality requirements. It will therefore be necessary to perform regular meetings with technical and production management personnel with respect to all foundry (and machine shop) activities.
We are seeking candidates who have several years experience in a quality control function in a foundry (and machine shop) operation engaged in the production of high quality, ferrous cast and machined components. A good practical knowledge of foundry technology and metallurgy would therefore be essential.
You must have an analytical approach to all problem solving and must be intuitive and observant in all matters. There must be flexibility, creativity and a responsive approach to all quality related problems.
You will also need to show evidence of having a structured career path within a quality / production related position with a proven record of qualifications, experience and achievement.
Candidates must have experience to effectively use quality tools and techniques to assist in the determining compliance to specifications, trends, capabilities and opportunities to continuous improvement.
