My client is a global Automotive Tier 1 Supplier with it's Headquarters in Michigan. A Division, itself headquartered in Europe, has an urgent need for a Regional Quality Manager to oversee the Quality function in 9 NA plants. The Divisional Quality Director is based in Europe and there is also a matrixed responsibility to the Corporate Director of Customer Care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include :
- Management:
Provide a clear vision, strategy and plan to continuously improve product quality for the Division that customers trust and value and provides profit for the businesses.
Develop and strengthen leaders within the Quality organization.
Provide business leadership by participation on Leadership team.
Act safely and ethically at all times and be responsible for the quality department’s safety performance.
- Quality Management System:
Maintain and promote the use of the ISO9000 Quality System and or any other customer required certification.
Maintain the integrity of the Customer Complaint System – act as the Voice of the Customer.
Seek to increase the effectiveness of the Quality Management System through benchmarking and sharing of best practices.
Develop and maintain a Supplier Quality system that ensures a reliable, product is delivered on time to the organization.
- Continuous Improvement:
Provide leadership and direction for the Six Sigma Program.
Drive continuous improvement processes utilizing Six Sigma Lean techniques.
Complete Black Belt/Green Belt reviews, schedules Six Sigma training and mentor Black Belts.
Maintain, report and develop goals with clearly defined action plans to improve key metrics (Cost of Quality, Customer Complaint metrics, Yield) that increase organizational effectiveness and reduces cycle time. Meet performance targets for quality improvement and lean sigma initiatives.
Take actions to improve the scrap rate
- Customer Requirements:
Function as the customer advocate in the introduction of new products and development of mutual expectations for ISO9000 Design Control and customer needs mapping.
Interact with customer base and internal customer contacts in regards to specifications and standards.
Coordinate customer audits
Complete customer visits to understand customer requirements.
Position Requirements :
At least Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business or related field. Master’s degree is s plus
At least 15 years of experience in the automotive industry, with a minimum of 10 years combined experience in Manufacturing, Engineering or Quality.
Strong experience in evaluating effectiveness and efficiency of current quality systems and the ability to build new systems
Experience with lean manufacturing (Toyota Production System)
Experience with TS16949 and other quality certification systems
Proven experience in process engineering and process improvement
Strong statistical background
Multi-plant leadership experience
Excellent presentation, oral, written and interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of the organization
Strong technical background, design to quality (product and process) experience
Experience regarding correlation/translation Product/process/quality plans into financial objectives
Strong implementation capability
Matrix organization experience
Experience in multinational is a plus
Willingness to travel
