Our LTi Boyd Fairburn, Georgia facility extrudes foam and rubber products for a diversified customer base. We are presently looking for an experiences Quality Technician to join our Quality Team. The Quality Technician is responsible for performing quality audits of manufactured products; ensuring compliance with environmental policies and regulations; ensuring ISO procedures are followed and properly documented; maintaining, troubleshooting and calibrating lab equipment; investigating customer complaints through troubleshooting and root cause analysis; and updating and maintaining records and reports.
Quality Assurance
· Perform audits of manufacturing processes and product documentation; ensure product quality meets company regulations and standards; input and update information in Computer Aided Quality (CAQ) software utilizing Statistical Process Control (SPC) systems.
· Review quality of raw materials received from suppliers utilizing Certificates of Analysis and physical testing requirements.
· Maintain, troubleshoot and perform weekly standardization of lab equipment; work with vendors to schedule annual calibrations.
· Responsible for coordinating testing at outside laboratories.
· Responsible for coordinating internal 3rd party audits.
Quality Improvement
· Lead root cause analysis efforts to investigate and resolve customer complaints.
· Lead quality improvement initiatives for manufacturing processes and products.
· Develop, maintain and utilize quality metrics to help identify and eliminate sources of defects.
· Identify areas for quality improvement and implement changes to achieve those initiatives.
Record Keeping and Reporting
· Responsible for implementing environmental policies including but not limited to auditing visible emission data and submitting bi-annual air permit reports.
· Document inspection and test data such as weights, temperatures, grades, and moisture content; document quantities inspected and/or graded; mark items with details such as grade and acceptance or rejection status.
· Document inspection results utilizing written reports and electronic data entry; maintain necessary files and records for quality control inspections and other related documentation.
· Report non-conformance issues to proper personnel so that corrective action can be taken; communicate and keep Production Supervisor up to date on all quality related issues.
· Complete Corrective Action Reports, Work Request Forms, etc. utilizing Excel, Access and Word.
· Troubleshoot and maintain CAQ systems.
Other Duties
· Lead 5-S activities (sort, straighten, shine, standardize and sustain) to organize and manage the laboratory and facility.
· Maintain a clean work environment.
· Attend meetings as required and/or assigned.
· Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
Special Job Dimensions
· May be required to travel up to 10% of the time.
Physical Demands
· Frequent bending, twisting, and lifting of up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment
A Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate field (i.e. Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quality) or equivalent combination of education and experience is essential for this position along with 2-3 years minimum experience. Certified Mechanical Inspector/Six Sigma Greenbelt is a plus.
Specialized Knowledge or Abilities
· Language: English
· Must be flexible in handling multiple tasks and setting appropriate priorities.
· Must have excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills with ability to mediate between diverse personnel in order to gain consensus on projects.
· Computer Skills: MS Office, Statistical software( Minitab, Design Ease, DOE etc)
· Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, rations, and proportions to practical situations.
· Reasoning Abilities: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
