Quantitative Research Analyst/ Senior Software Engineer- US hedge Fund- $250K++ recruitment
US Based hedge fund is looking to appoint a quant researcher/ software engineer with a background in research and technology for their offices in Connecticut and Chicago.
Background
The firm have been around for more than 20 years and are known to be one of the longest standing hedge funds in the US with expertise across the equity, derivatives, futures and foreign exchange markets. They are known for hiring only the highest calibre of candidates which is why they have always favoured steady growth rather than expanding rapidly. As part of their plans for 2012 they are looking to bring on board 3 researchers with a strong background in software engineering. The firm provide a research and technology driven environment and the opportunity to work with like minded researchers with backgrounds in algorithm design, portfolio optimisation and code development.
The Role
The environment will be very research driven with a focus on developing object-orientated large scale real time trading systems and designing algorithms to optimise the efficiency of the trading strategies/ platform. You will also be responsible for working closely with the director of research and developing processes that will automate the macroeconomic and financial data sets that you will be working with. A key aspect of the role will be coding in C++ so a familiarity with this is a must.
You can also expect to work with data structures, design patterns and stochastic processes. The position will be based in a small team so experience in project management and or working within a research capacity with hands on programming is preferable.
In addition prior experience working with Gauss, Matlab and SQL for at least 5 years is highly desirable.
Profile
• 5+ years experience working within a software engineering role/ research based environment.
• Familiarity with C++, Gauss, Unix/Linux, Matlab and SQL is highly desirable.
• Experience from within finance is not required but preferable.
• Background as a technical lead is desirable.
• Strong academic background in maths, science, engineering or statistics from a leading university is desirable.
