The Opportunity:

You will join a London based Development Team of a Top Tier IB, part of a distributed IT Group, dedicated to the build and design of this application. As the London lead, which is where the Development is going to be driven from, you will need to build and immediate rapport and gain the respect of the business and developers, both in London and Globally, from the outset. It is therefore important that you have the following experience;

* Technical Leadership Direct Management (even if it is of a small team of 2 developers)
* Experience of end to end design and development of highly scalable, distributed software applications
* Investment Banking, ideally Rates end of day Risk PnL systems, other Front Office environments will be considered, you must be able to describe a Swap and a Bond
* Demonstrable experience of improving performance, scalability and reliability of Software
* Strong technical orientation and architectural awareness
* Maintaining a hands on approach to coding in Java with strong Oracle / SQL knowledge
* Strong development processes and use of tools such as Cruise Control, continuous integration, test processes

You will be intrinsic in the improvement and large-scale re-vamp of an existing application that is currently supporting day to day business activities well, however needs to address a number of key factors; performance, scale and future state. This will include complete re-writes as well as a stripping back and improvement of some existing technology. The project hasn't yet begun, you will therefore be key to helping the business and lead architect derive a design and plan how to deliver these changes. This is also a very business facing role, you will liaise very closely with the Quant Desk and Head Trader and well as Middle Office functions, strong business knowledge of the Rates Risk PnL space is highly desirable. This will be both a challenging and rewarding opportunity.
