Ratings Analyst (Associate Director) – Sovereign Ratings recruitment
An opportunity exists to join Standard Poor's Sovereign Ratings team as a Ratings Analyst, at the Associate Director level, based in Melbourne. We are looking for a self-driven individual with over six years experience in business and financial risk analysis who is interested in building a career at Standard Poor’s.
Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of credit ratings comprising mainly of sovereign governments but could also include government related companies, local governments and other public sector entities.
- Conduct frequent interactions with top/senior officials in governments in the region to gain insight in order to perform thorough analyses of the credit profiles of relevant governments and related entities.
- Develop and present rating recommendations to SP rating committees on governments and related entities, as well as ratings on their debt instruments, in accordance with Standard Poor’s rating criteria.
- Communicate analytical rationales to media, investors, regulators, and other stakeholders.
- Conduct research into issues relevant to sovereign ratings and report on findings in written commentaries for publication.
- Work with colleagues from other ratings teams to derive economic scenarios.
Qualifications
- Graduate qualification in Economics, Finance and/or Accounting. However, a post graduate qualification is preferred.
- 6+ years of hands-on analytical experience in a credit or research environment. Experience in a role requiring research into policy, economic or financial market analysis will be looked on favourably.
- Fluency in English is essential. Strong communication skills are required; the preferred candidate is comfortable speaking to a large audience and conducting live media interviews.
- Good knowledge of financial markets, governmental systems and regulatory environments in Australia, New Zealand and neighbouring nations.
- Strong interpersonal skills. The preferred candidate will be team-oriented and thrive in a global, multi-cultural environment.
- Self-driven, energetic and proactive.
- Strong numeric skills and comfortable with data manipulation in Microsoft excel.
- The willingness to travel. This role requires some travel within the Asia-Pacific region.
