Ratings Steward/Data Manager recruitment
Standard Poor's Data Strategy Operations (DSO) group is currently seeking to hire a Data Manager focused on Ratings Stewardship. The Data Strategy Operations group leverages data management best practice to improve the sophistication of SP's analytical data capabilities in areas such as surveillance, quantitative analysis, product development and risk management. Within and across each of the Data Strategy Operations pillars are global teams of people with expertise in data management who work together to make data and information efficiently available for analytical activities and for new products and services, and work closely with IT to build and maintain critical database systems utilizing SP-wide technology and architecture standards. This role is aligned with initiatives around Quality, Criteria, Compliance, and Risk. Selected individual will work closely with members of Ratings Analytical and Information Technology teams to understand business requirements for consuming ratings data as well as ensuring business rules and governance to improve accuracy and efficiencies.
Essential Accountabilities:
- Work with the business units, IT, BAs and other project stakeholders to define data quality requirements; understand their data structures and partner with them to achieve higher data quality and enhanced efficiency.
- Deliver tactical and strategic recommendations for the execution of necessary data activities with a concentrated focus on enterprise-wide acceptable solutions.
- Assess and map processes and provide/implement recommendations to improve data quality.
- Recommend solutions and procedures to the business to achieve high quality data and take into consideration other systems/software utilized for other purposes.
- Provide training on data quality tasks and strategies to data users. This may include assisting the development of the technical documentation used.
- Work with project teams to ensure they have an understanding of the data development lifecycle and the value it delivers
- Facilitate the sharing of experiences and ideas of good data management practices across data teams throughout SP including data practices within the business unit themselves.
Skills
- Bachelor's Degree
- Advanced Excel
- Microsoft Access and/or ability to run SQL queries not required, but is strongly prefered
- Capital Markets knowledge
- SF experience or knowledge highly desirable
- Advanced multi-tasking skills
- Ability to work closely with project teams of 10+ individuals from different disciplines (IT, Project Management) across SP's businesses
