The Aladdin and Application Engineering teams within the Aladdin Technology group use the latest technologies to design and develop applications that make up the firm's investment management platform. The systems support the full lifecycle of the investment management process, from quantitative risk management to order entry, trade routing and settlement.
Team Overview:
The Distribution Solutions (DS) team's mission is to enable our distribution capabilities and drive client engagement through technology, information design, and process improvements that deliver our products, services, and brand promise to customers and prospects. More specifically the DS team creates and drives the vision, strategic development, implementation, and on-going support of Web, CRM Applications / tools across BlackRock businesses and regions. This team also manages client information and reporting systems and ensures reliable efficient management and access to those.
Summary/Position Objectives:
This position will support all disciplines within BAI's Real Estate investment advisory group including portfolio management, transactions, asset management, and portfolio accounting. A combination of proprietary and third party vendor solutions are utilized. Primary initial objective will be to write a new suite of analytical reports to enable decommissioning of a third party vendor application (Resolve Request).
Responsibilities:
- Apply programming database expertise to improve the automation and efficiency of the existing systems, and develop new applications reports through a rapid application development lifecycle.
- Analyze moderate to complex business needs to design appropriate technical solutions.
- Design and implement physical data structures (SQL Server).
- Perform data mapping and process modeling across multiple systems.
- Examine and resolve production problems related to assigned applications.
- Unit test, reconcile and document results to ensure functions meet design requirements.
- Program and maintain complex databases, spreadsheets, and other analytical tools.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Microsoft SQLServer (Relational Engine, SSIS, Reporting Services, Analysis Services), ASP.NET and C# (.Net)
- Ability to create applications using Visual Studio and Reporting Services
- Knowledge of relational database theory, XML, T-SQL, web services
- Understand/apply reusable code design, leverage Microsoft Reporting Services and SQL Server capabilities/functionality.
- Knowledge of Yardi, Resolve Request and SharePoint third party software solutions particularly valuable
- 3 years professional experience in financial analysis or information technology
- Possess a 4 year degree in computer science, mathematics or a related field preferred
- A basic understanding of IIS, Active Directory, authentication and permissions in a Windows Server environment
- OLAP in a multidimensional context for reporting and analysis
- Experience working in a Financial Services area, experience in Real Estate or Investment Management is a plus.
