Regional Director (Commercial Background
A multinational Leader in Paper manufacturing with over 8000 employees, turnover of approximately 2.2billion Euros wants an experienced and ambitious Regional Director to be responsible for a number of Recycling plants in the North West/Northern Region of the UK.
The role is based from the Doncaster site and will cover a further plant in Sheffield. Your role will also look after a 3rd and 4th site, soon to be added to the company portfolio in the North West/Yorkshire regions. You will report in to the UK MD.
The Regional Director will have full responsibility for coordination of all business departments (Sales, operations, Finance etc) outlining budgets, strategic plans, team management and motivation, investments in order to obtain the expected results. There is a number of plants under your responsibility in the North West / Yorkshire regions of England. Therefore a little flexibility to make site visits on occasions is a must.

Your role will consist of but not limited to:
- Analyze and undertake a monthly follow up of global management and Profit and Loss Accounts, analyzing variances and establishing preventative and/or corrective actions required.
- Review, approve and evaluate internal financial policies, cost control, projects, purchases/ sales and stock.
- Draw up and implement Budgets and Annual Investment Plans.
- Ensure the correct implementation and enforcement of Policies in QSE. Supervise and manage the correct introduction of Health and Safety policies outlined by the Country Management.
- Plan business activity according to the needs and market conditions.
- Implement and develop Strategic Plans.
- Promote plans to develop and motivate the human resources. Maintain good internal relationships.
- Manage the Key Accounts and maintain relationships with public agencies and institutions.
- Monitor and undertake a follow up of the commercial team.
- Define the strategy with the recovery companies and businesses within the same sector in collaboration with the Commercial Team.
- Undertake an annual review of each client’s contractual conditions and prices in accordance with the Commercial Director.
- Prepare follow up reports on the Plant’s business activity. Report on market changes and new business opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with the sales policy established by Management within each plant.
- Promote a good team-working environment. Provide a positive, productive and safe working environment.
- Implement Group strategies, ensuring compliance with established rules and procedures and proposing improvement plans.
- Establish a correct policy regarding the management of payments and client risks, according to the guidelines set out by Management. Follow up outstanding payments.
- Plan, manage and monitor the human resources according to the objectives set in line with the budget.
- Coordinate and report all production requirements and shortages to the Operations Director.
The successful applicant will need to be able to demonstrate at least 5-10 years in a similar position within a Recycling / Waste Plant environment.
You will have to show excellent commercial background, dealing with clients on a regular basis. Ex sales background would be good.
- Experience of working within the recycling/waste industry from a Commercial / Sales / Plant management perspective is a must have.
- Experience of managing PL’s and have knowledge of the basic accounting concepts and fundamentals.
- Knowledge of Depot based business is essential
- You must be able to demonstrate your ability to lead and manage multi site teams.
- You must possess a University Degree.
- Any further qualifications in Project Management, Sales and Marketing management, manufacturing or Industrial waste management would be a distinct advantage.
- You must show good examples of team management, leadership and motivation.
- You must have experience of controlling health and safety site issues and policies
- You must be able to deal with customers directly, show good initiative and innovation and be able to influence your decisions and choices.
- You must have a strong character that can deliver good ideas for change and improvement and be able to back them up through to board sign off and implementation.
- You must have a good strategic background and vision for the future.
