SUMMARY

Operating in a varied software and hardware environment the role will be to provide desktop, server and infrastructure support both locally and for remote sites.  Completes assigned activities under the direction of the Infrastructure Manager North America and Group IT Manager.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Install, configure troubleshoot PC operating systems and application software
  2. Ensure software is correctly licensed and documented
  3. Ensure equipment is configured to GLV standards
  4. Troubleshoot and resolve PC hardware issues
  5. Perform PC hardware maintenance and upgrades
  6. Liaise with external suppliers for the repair of equipment under warranty or maintenance contract
  7. Provide support and assistance to local and remote users
  8. Maintain asset inventory of all equipment and ensure new equipment is catalogued and labelled
  9. Monitor backups and change tapes
  10. Ensure helpdesk issues are resolved, documented and closed in a timely fashion
  11. Ensure IT Policies and procedures are followed and documented
  12. Perform PC/Server hardware maintenance and upgrades as required
  13. Install and configure network devices
  14. AD management
  15. Install, configure, troubleshoot and document LAN infrastructure
  16. Install, configure, troubleshoot and document server hardware, operating systems and application software
  17. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures
  18. Other duties may be assigned as required

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Educated to Degree standard.  Accredited qualification in Information Technology. Proven track record in providing support in a varied operating environment

 

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to respond effectively to sensitive enquiries and complaints.

Ability to both read, write and converse in English and at advanced level.

 

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT, DECISION MAKING PROBLEM SOLVING:

Ability to make decisions requiring the use of a single variable in standard situations.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Computer skills:

Expert Windows 7/XP, Windows Server 2003/2008/R2, Active Directory / Exchange administration. 

Competency with Microsoft office products.

Competency with Network switches / routers networking protocols.

Knowledge of AutoCAD and engineering software a bonus.

 

Mathematical Skills: Ability to understand and apply basic mathematical concepts.
