Registered General Nurse / Learning Disability Nurse

Hays Healthcare is working with the leading experts in supporting people who have multiple disabilities, including visual impairment, learning and physical disabilities, mental health difficulties, acquired brain injury and life limiting conditions.

This registered Charity are looking for a RGN or an RNLD to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing a high quality service to young adults and their families. The post holder will be responsible for assisting in the assessing, implementing and evaluating care programmes, and actively supporting senior staff in leading a care team, providing individual care throughout the 24-hour period on a shift basis.

Key Duties/Responsibilities

· To undertake direct care of people using the service, being aware of own professional accountability and agreed standards of care.
· Supporting senior staff to update care plans and programmes as necessary.
· Ensuring the safety of others at all times, supporting and working within the allocation of appropriate supervision to people using the service, being aware of the skill mix of the team.
· To act in a responsible manner at all times, respecting that you are working in someone else’s home.
· Developing skills as a Named Nurse, and working alongside senior colleagues to maintain good relations with parents, professionals and purchasers.

Person Specification

· Registered General Nurse or Learning Disability Nurse (1st or 2nd level registration).
· Current registration.
· Desired experience working with individuals with special needs / life-limiting conditions.
· Desired knowledge of conditions that are life-limiting.
· Ability to communicate effectively with service users, respecting dignity and individuality.
