Regulatory Transactions Team (Manager/Team Leader) recruitment

We support more than 600 investment businesses, ranging from established global firms to start-ups. Our clients include many of the world's largest hedge fund managers, private equity firms, fund of funds managers, family offices and institutional pension fund managers.

We are looking to hire an experienced compliance professional to come in and manage our Regulatory Transactions Team (“RTT”). The team is essentially responsible for project managing the authorisations process for a variety of clients and for the delivery of IMS services in regard to the following:

• Part IV Permission applications

• Change of Control Applications

• Variation of Permission Applications

• Change of Legal Status Applications

• Approved Persons Applications

• Part IV Permission Withdrawals

The Manager will take the lead within the team and be responsible for managing the consultants, the effective delivery of services to clients and for contributing to the wider business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Draft and collate information in respect of the forms for the various services listed above

• Assist in the project management and completion of all such applications, etc

• Direct liaison with clients (face-to-face meetings, telephone calls and email), as well as managing contact with the FSA and other third party service providers (auditors, lawyers and prime brokers)

• Liaison with other consultants within IMS to facilitate the handover of FSA applications clients to the on-going consulting team at an appropriate point

• Build relationships with internal teams (Directors, Ongoing, Training, Sales, Marketing, etc) and raise your profile, both externally and internally, so that these colleagues and contacts can have appropriate confidence in you with reference to your role, responsibilities and ability to deliver IMS services

• Ensuring that work is performed in accordance with the signed contract

• Ensuring that work is performed in accordance with procedures/client service standards

• Maintaining full client details and, as appropriate, correspondence and client documentation

• Reviewing work prepared by RTT across the various services for accuracy before being signed off and submitted to a client for review and approval

• Monitor client profitability and suggesting fee amendments where appropriate

• Assist in the preparation of consultancy agreements and proposals

• Lead weekly RTT meetings and ensure that MI is prepared correctly

• Identify additional fee opportunities as these arise

• Review and approve client time and invoices on a monthly basis

• Maintain a good awareness of the client’s business, raising any concerns with senior management

Contributing to the IMS organisation:

• Take a lead in sectors as required, as well as becoming a sector leader for FSA applications and associated services

• Assist and encourage colleagues

• Participate in internal committees as required

• Attend external legal briefings as required

• Review, digest and disseminate regulatory developments within RTT

• Participate in external events as required

• Update IMS infrastructure and tools as and when required

• Work closely with senior management in regard to individual development and training needs

• Ensure that, with suitable assistance from the firm, that your required level of on-going competence is attained and remains up to date

• Provide and receive feedback on personal performance and that of team members

Team oversight

Client Management:

• Allocate new clients and project work

• Oversee client profitability

• Oversee accuracy of client invoices

• Client servicing:

o    Monitor timeliness of client deliverables

o    Quality control of client deliverables

o    Overseeing accurate timesheet and general record keeping

People Management:

• Take a lead in the recruitment of new team members

• Set objectives for new consultants on joining the team

• Carry out bi-annual appraisals (minimum) for all team members including team member objective setting

• Monitor work load and utilisation rates

• Approve Annual Leave, managing sickness/absence, etc

Management reporting:

• New, open and completed applications across all RTT services

• Any issues with leave/sickness

• Other info as required by the Group Director

Key requirements:

• Demonstrate significant compliance experience, ideally gained at an Asset/Investment Management firm, the Big4, a specialist regulatory consultancy or from a relevant team at the FSA.

• Experience of dealing with the applications processes across the services listed would be very highly preferred

• Experience gained in institutional rather than retail environment (preferred)

• Experience of successfully managing and developing people

• Exceptional communication skills

• Strong commercial awareness
