The successful candidate will have responsibility for the following deliverables and activities:

• delivering part of the national UK distribution strategy which focuses on building and developing new relationships with employers and intermediaries in defined market segments

• identifying and building relationships with senior level, key decision makers within target accounts to assist with member acquisition. Fostering and developing relationship strategies with employers and intermediary groups leading to a long-term commitment by these groups to NEST. This is likely to be face-to-face activity across the UK

• positioning NEST in the right way in order to attract new members and ensuring employers and their intermediaries are given the opportunity and enough information to understand how NEST could be employed. Delivery through meetings, presentations and potentially other media to groups of varying sizes to raise awareness of NEST

• ensuring an appropriate contact strategy is in place that is aligned with all target accounts and the distribution strategy

• ensuring best in class service is given to all accounts to ensure member acquisition and account maintenance over the long term

• operating to key account management protocols to build an understanding of the potential customer businesses, their decision making behaviour and building a strong professional network across NEST at all levels to enable knowledge transfer to benefit the organisation

• working with other members of the distribution team to identify growth areas and ensure this is aligned to NEST’s overall business objectives and the distribution strategy

• ensuring all business activity conducted on behalf of NEST is in line with FSA Treating Customers Fairly principles, other regulatory compliance requirements and NEST’s own Code of Conduct.

Experience required

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following experience:

• in a business development role for a pensions product provider, employee benefits consultancy or large corporate and will have gained an excellent knowledge of the corporate advisor market. A good knowledge of trust based pension schemes is desirable.

• in the successful delivery of volume new business and experience of financial services product distribution within a regulatory framework is essential.

• of operating within an account management framework, intelligence gathering and the best application of business intelligence

• of presenting to large and diverse audiences (e.g. seminars, road shows etc); and experience of building and delivering compelling and engaging presentations. A full driving license is also necessary. 

• Of working towards and then maintaining specific key performance indicators, achieving targeted activity levels and maintaining personal continuous professional development.

Education/qualification requirements:

• minimum FPC Qualified, (Advanced) Diploma in Financial Planning or part qualified preferable.

Personal attributes required:

• team player with the ability to work in a target-orientated environment

• exceptionally self-driven and ability to work on own initiative to an agreed business plan

• ability to effectively work remotely whilst ensuring contact and attendance in a head-office

environment as appropriate

• ability to negotiate and use commercial acumen to achieve results. 

• of managing a number of different parties to achieve a common goal, preferably in situations with no direct line management responsibility.

• will have ideally worked for a pensions provider or EBC firm, and will have a good knowledge of the corporate pensions market. A good knowledge of trust based pension schemes is desirable.

• will have worked closely with marketing teams on design and delivery of externally facing documents.

• will come from, or have knowledge of a provider sales team and understand EBCs and the role they play with large employers. An understanding of sales team governance is desirable but not essential
